Video Final

What we did this Semester in Video

We have done, and have learned a lot this year in video. We have learned a lot about different video things, and also about important skills that are needed for any job such as communication, collaboration, project management, time management, leadership, and technical skills.

News Story (Drew and Diabetes)

For this project we choose to interview Drew Sappingfield because he has diabetes. Diabetes is a very important topic that many kids don't know much about, including myself before this interview. We let Drew explain to us how diabetes effects his every day live and how more awareness can be brought to the issue. We used our knowledge of tripods to set up the perfect angle and we used the rule of thirds to make sure that the interview looked as professional as possible. We also made sure to get lots of B roll which I used at the right time to make it look even more professional. In editing I tried my best to let Drew lead the interview but I could use more work on my voice overs.

(Feature Video) How to Report Bullying
Even thought this video could have been way better, it was one of our first ones and I think it turned out decently well for our first video of the school year. There were many parts were you could tell it was our first video. One problem we had was showing the whole story within the 30 seconds and you can tell because some of the shots don't fit well together. I feel like we did a good job filming and setting up the right angles. On problem we had with our shot selection though, is when the camera tries to focus on my face and the color is really messed up.

Personal Areas of Strength
I feel like I am good at filming and choosing the best shots to really make the interview or whatever feature story do well. I also feel like I am doign well in editing and I can make the interview look good.

Areas of Improvement
I feel like I could improve in my voice overs. I need to make sure that I am not the one leading the interview and that I let the Interviewee lead the interview and not make it feel forced. I also feel like I can use my time better to maximize efficiency.

     Creating ONW Now
Creating ONW Now was a really fun process and it was really cool seeing how everything worked. My group made a story about finals and the best way to prepare for them. During the filming of ONW Now I was hard at work sitting in the background.

Semester Review
Something I liked about this semester was how many projects we got to due and seeing everyone improve over time. Something I would change is making we have enough time for every project and managing our time wisely to make sure that our videos don't feel rushed. This kind of happened to me and my group for the ONW Now video since our stories kept falling through.
