Advance Feature New Story Blog Post

For this feature News Story my group decided to interview the National Art Honors Society club, NAHS for short. We chose this club because of how underrepresented they are in the school. Once we found our topic we decided production roles. Kenzi was our director, John was the cinematographer, Lucas was the script supervisor, and I was the editor. Since this was Maicy's first project, she didn't have a role and just learned from us. Maicy knew someone who we could interview from NAHS but we were able to get a second interview from a senior in HAHS, the one seen in the video, and she was able to answer all the questions and it made for a better video.        For this project what I wanted to do differently was to try and make the video seem like the Interviewee was leading the interview. I tried to make it less question and answer, and make it flow more. I feel like this was an improvement from my last videos but there are parts where it cuts very rapidly and the B-

What we did this Semester in Video We have done, and have learned a lot this year in video. We have learned a lot about different video things, and also about important skills that are needed for any job such as  communication, collaboration, project management, time management, leadership, and technical skills.           News Story (Drew and Diabetes) For this project we choose to interview Drew Sappingfield because he has diabetes. Diabetes is a very important topic that many kids don't know much about, including myself before this interview. We let Drew explain to us how diabetes effects his every day live and how more awareness can be brought to the issue. We used our knowledge of tripods to set up the perfect angle and we used the rule of thirds to make sure that the interview looked as professional as possible. We also made sure to get lots of B roll which I used at the right time to make it look even more professional. In editing I tried my best to let Drew

ONW Now Reflection

Filming ONW Now      For the first time ever as sophomores we got the opportunity to film our own ONW Now. We started by all coming up with ideas for a news story by ourselves. Then we got assigned groups and all talked about what idea we should create into a full story. We decided on doing a story over the laptops, but when we went up to talk to Mrs. Zimmerli we found out the group before us had the same idea. We chose to use the assembly for our second idea even though it was risky because we would not have any footage to film or edit on block day. Finally when the day of the assembly came, we got news that it was cancelled. We needed something we could film as soon as possible because we were already a few days into the project without any footage. For our final idea we decided to do finals and different students favorite ways to study for them. We choose this because it was an idea we all liked and could be filmed right away.         Live Recording Process

Graphic Design Final

Nature Man        One of the first projects we did was the nature man. We took a stock image of a man and turned it into our own design. There were many challenges many of us faces since we were still so new to photoshop. Being the first project we learned a lot about photoshop but it did take awhile compared to the amount of work completed in the short amount of time. Some feedback Was given was to try and use more of the new things we were learning like all the filters and different effects. I took that suggestion and I added some of new effects and things we learned earlier to my project. Overall I'm proud of this for it being my first project.    Color Paint          For the color paint project we took projects from the paste and but them onto a background we painted. This projects took a few weeks due to the multiple steps it required. Some challenges I faced is when I got hodge podge on the back of my project. I learned the usefulness of hodge podge because I d

Writing a Newstory

Writing a news story is a craft that is often overlooked. The story is the backbone for the whole news piece. I started by watching the example news stories given in Google Classroom. I used those to see how news stories are put together to give the most information with the shortest about of time without making it feel rushed. I used the inverted pyramid to make it feel like the Interviewee was leading the story and not like the answers were forced by me, the interviewer. I also learned to use quotes sparingly and only where they will have the best affect.        One thing I liked about this project is that it's our first project where we have had full creative control. We got too choose our topic, and show off everything we have learned since freshman year. Something I also liked is how much like an actual news show the process of creating the show is. Just like an actual show there is a deadline that needs to be met and if it isn't then our story is just cut. It add

Ecomm News Story

This week all ONW students will be getting Dell laptops to be used for school. Many students have different opinions on whether they belive the laptops are a benefit or not to students and teacher. (Different interviews with students) As you can see there are many different opinions on the effectiveness of computers and wether they will impact learning in a good or bad way.  Teachers have different opinions than student on the addition of laptops (Interview with different teachers and their opinions) Whether laptops are good or not for the school is something that can only be determined over time. Thanks for listening Ravens now back to the desk!
